Physical Art Work

Misguided
20" x 26'' Micron Pen on Vellum Paper
Misguided is an abstract piece of mine created with detailed penwork and the use of pointillism. I have always been interested in pointillism and felt it is a technique that is not widely seen among large artworks, thus I wanted to make it one. I was first introduced to in high school and knew I wanted to make my own work heavily based off of it, so this is my first original artwork doing so. It was not created with the intention of a hidden meaning as I wanted people to interpret it however they felt. This artwork was selected and awarded in a exhibition juried by Joey Quinones. Now it is hanging at Steptoe and Johnson Law firm in Huntington, WV.
Untitled
20" x 26" Graphite on Vellum Paper
This piece is a portrait of a young girl fragmented into rectangular pieces. I had to incorporate a portrait for this project, and it is a semi-abstract representation of the innocence of a child. The way a kid sees the world is so pure and that is the reasoning for the portrait of a child. The fragments were just a way to figuratively show that it doesn't stay that way as we grow older. This piece is created with pencil and was also a learning exercise about Value.

Deflated
Mixed Media

This is part of my capstone project in college about dreaming in your sleep and how they happen differently for everybody. Specifically, I focused on studies of how dreams are a way for some people to process past events or trauma. A large part of my past is basketball, and it is a career of mine that ended abruptly due to Covid. Basketball often pops up in my dreams whether it is related to the topic or not. Depicted are the shoes and gear I wore the last time I played competitively, as well as a deflated basketball to represent the feeling of a dream ending in a way that was not on your terms. This piece is created completely with micro dots (pointillism) and ballpoint pen. I created the frames as well.

Van Gogh Recreation
18" x 24" oil on canvas
This was an assignment for a painting class where we had to pick a portion of a famous art piece and recreate it. It is a replica of "The Bridge at Courbevoie" by Vincent Van Gogh
